Who should prefer 1kW

If your work is sheet metal comfortably inside Miller’s 1/8-inch published capability, the 1kW deserves serious consideration before paying for capacity you do not routinely need.

Who should research 2kW

If thicker sheet is routine—not an occasional edge case—the 2kW’s 5/16-inch published capability creates substantially more headroom. Validate the exact material and production joint with a Miller dealer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the OptX 2kW simply twice as thick as the 1kW?

No. Miller publishes up to 1/8 inch for the 1kW and up to 5/16 inch for the 2kW; thickness does not scale linearly with wattage.

Do both use 240V?

Miller lists 240V, single-phase laser input on the complete packages for both models.
