Miller OptX currently centers on 1kW and 2kW systems. IPG LightWELD publishes 1000, 1500 XR and 2000 XR tiers. That 1500 XR middle step can matter to buyers who want more material headroom without moving straight from 1kW to 2kW.
How capability is published
Miller publishes overall sheet-metal capability of up to 1/8 inch for OptX 1kW and up to 5/16 inch for 2kW. IPG publishes a material-specific matrix—including separate aluminum families, copper, titanium and galvanized steel. For buyers with specialty materials, that explicit table is a major research advantage.
