Start with explicit material support
IPG publishes copper capability on LightWELD 1500 XR up to 0.081″ and LightWELD 2000 XR up to 0.129″, while LightWELD 1000 shows no copper capability in its current table.
That is more useful than assuming a generic “1500W” or “2000W” number transfers across brands.

- What joint type and fit-up assumptions sit behind the maximum?
- Is filler wire required or recommended?
- What shielding and safety controls are required for this application?
