Start with explicit material support
IPG lists galvanized steel in its LightWELD material range, including published capability up to 0.156″ on LightWELD 1000 and up to 0.313″ on LightWELD 2000 XR.
That is more useful than assuming a generic “1500W” or “2000W” number transfers across brands.

- Is my exact alloy/grade in your published or tested range?
- What joint type and fit-up assumptions sit behind the maximum?
- Is filler wire required or recommended?
- What shielding and safety controls are required for this application?
- Can you validate my sample before purchase?

Do not assume so. Require explicit manufacturer material support and validate your exact alloy, thickness and joint.
Is higher wattage enough to solve the problem?
No. Optical design, source behavior, presets, wire feeding, joint fit-up and manufacturer validation also matter.
