SFX ALW-1200A: who is it actually for?
The ALW-1200A stands out because SFX publishes more buying detail than many portable laser-welder sellers: 1200W output, 220V input, 32 kg gross weight, air cooling, a 650 g gun and a 5 m cable. The manufacturer also publishes material-specific capability instead of a single generic thickness number.
Our buyer-oriented interpretation: this is more compelling for a small fabrication shop or mobile-ish workflow than a large water-cooled trolley, but "portable" still does not mean plug-and-play. SFX lists 4 kW rated input power and a shielding-gas requirement, so facility readiness still matters.
Published welding capability
| Material | SFX published capability* | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel | 0–4 mm | Joint geometry and required penetration |
| Carbon steel | 0–4 mm | Fit-up and production speed |
| Aluminum | 0–4 mm | Alloy family and sample-weld quality |
| Galvanized sheet | 0–4 mm | Coating condition and fumes control |
| Brass / copper | 0–1.5 mm | Reflectivity and actual joint requirement |
*Manufacturer-published capability is not a welding procedure or guaranteed penetration result.
