1000W vs 1500W Handheld Laser Welder: Which Power Class Fits?

The jump from 1000W to 1500W often changes more than penetration. It can change price, circuit demand, chassis design, production headroom and the range of material-specific capability the manufacturer is willing to publish.

Where 1000W still makes sense

1000W systems remain relevant when the work is thin sheet, portability matters, and the manufacturer publishes sufficient capability for the actual alloys and joints. IPG LightWELD 1000 and Miller OptX 1kW are useful premium benchmarks even though their commercial models differ.

What 1500W can buy you

1500W-class machines frequently target higher throughput or thicker routine work, but capability varies materially by platform. Compare the exact published steel, aluminum and reflective-metal limits rather than assuming a fixed 50% improvement.

The facility and ownership check
