The labels are not standardized
A common 3-in-1 definition is welding + cleaning + cutting. A common 4-in-1 definition adds weld-seam cleaning as a separate mode. But you should verify the exact head, nozzle/optics change and controller modes on the product you are buying.
Cutting is usually an auxiliary function
Several manufacturers explicitly frame cutting/cleaning as auxiliary features rather than replacements for dedicated production equipment. If cutting or broad-area cleaning is a primary workload, a multi-function welding head may be the wrong economic choice.
What to compare instead of the badge
- Cleaning width and whether pre-/post-weld cleaning are distinct modes.
- Whether the wire feeder remains usable in the required mode.
- Nozzle/optic changes between modes.
- Consumables and replacement optics.
- Published duty and cooling limits.
