Cooling architecture affects portability, maintenance and how a system fits into your shop—not just the spec sheet.

The short answer

Air-cooled systems are attractive when compactness and simplified setup matter. Water-cooled systems can be appropriate where sustained industrial duty and higher-power architectures justify added cooling hardware.

The trade-offs that matter

Do not infer performance only from cooling type. Compare the complete system: output power, duty cycle guidance, ambient operating limits, service requirements, weight and the manufacturer’s intended workload.

Questions to ask before buying

  • What ambient temperature range is supported?
  • Is cooling integrated or external?
  • What maintenance does the cooling system require?
  • How does cooling affect transport weight and setup time?
