Laser Welder for Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the materials where a generic “this machine welds metal” claim is not enough. You need material-specific published guidance.

What to check first

Confirm that the manufacturer explicitly supports aluminum, then check the published aluminum thickness—not only the maximum quoted for steel.

Current published examples

xTool currently lists up to 3 mm aluminum for its MetalFab 800W and up to 4 mm for the 1200W model. GWEIKE lists aluminum among supported materials for its portable 800W/1200W systems, but buyers should confirm the exact process range for their alloy.

Alloy and process still matter

“Aluminum” is not one material. Alloy, joint design, surface condition, filler wire and shielding gas all affect the process. Treat a thickness table as a starting point, not a guarantee.

Safety note: Handheld fiber laser welders are high-power Class 4 laser systems. Use appropriate engineering controls, laser-rated PPE, training and a controlled work area. Always follow the exact manufacturer manual.
